Former President Donald Trump kicked off the 16-day Great American State Fair on the National Mall, an event celebrating the United States' 250th anniversary. Trump, speaking at the Freedom 250 event, declared that "the best is yet to come" for America and stated, "We are the ones who are carrying forward the light of Western civilization."
"This is the very beginning of the Golden Age of America. We’re in the Golden Age," Trump told attendees. He added that "There has never been an age like this." He emphasized that the anniversary serves as a moment to "be proud of our past" while also encouraging a forward-looking perspective.
"But it is also a time to lift our sights, expand our ambitions, and raise our expectations of what America can be … the best is yet to come," Trump stated during his remarks.
