Former President Donald Trump reacted with surprise and praise to the abrupt departure of Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, describing her as a "true warrior" and predicting her fans would be displeased.

"I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business," Trump posted on his Truth Social account. He noted that Bartiromo hosted "three different shows, always number one," and characterized her as "a total professional, and a true warrior."

Trump also stated that Bartiromo's "fans, of which there are many, will not be happy."

The announcement of Bartiromo's exit from Fox News Media came Thursday, hours after the final broadcast of her weekday program, "Mornings with Maria," on the Fox Business Network. The network stated, "Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with Fox News Media. We thank Maria for her work over the last 12-and-a-half years and wish her all the best on her next chapter."

Bartiromo, 58, has not publicly commented on her departure. Her X account, as of Thursday night, continued to list her shows on the cable news network.

There had been speculation that Bartiromo might be considered for the role of Trump's press secretary, a position currently held by Karoline Leavitt. However, Vice President JD Vance dismissed this possibility, telling reporters, "I love Maria. I think she’s an amazing person, amazing talent. Whatever she does, look, she’s gonna do great, and I wish her all the best."

Bartiromo had been with Fox News for over 12 years. The network has not provided a reason for her departure. "Mornings with Maria" will be replaced by a program featuring rotating anchors.

Fox News and Fox Business are part of Fox Corp, which is affiliated with News Corp, the parent company of The New York Post.
