Former President Donald Trump has posted an AI-generated image of himself in the White House press briefing room, captioned "The Best Press Secretary," as speculation intensifies regarding who will succeed Karoline Leavitt.

Leavitt, the youngest White House press secretary in history, is set to depart her role at the end of August. Trump announced her resignation last week, stating that she wished to "spend more time with her beautiful young children and family." He also indicated that Leavitt would continue to serve as a "top outside advisor" and an "influential voice" within the Republican Party.

Leavitt, who will turn 29 on August 24, has served as press secretary during Trump's second term. She shares two children with her husband, Nicholas Riccio, 61.

Since Leavitt's announced departure, media outlets and conservative commentators have been actively discussing potential replacements. Reports suggest Trump has indicated a preference for a male candidate to fill the position, which has been held by women in both of his previous terms, with Sean Spicer being the only man to serve as press secretary during his first term.

Among the names reportedly being considered are CNN contributor Scott Jennings and Breitbart's Washington bureau chief Matthew Boyle. Ari Fleischer, who previously held the press secretary role under President George W. Bush, is also said to be a candidate.
