Intimate letters written by Donald Trump's personal secretary, Natalie Harp, in which she confesses to starving herself and forgoing sleep while working for him, have resurfaced. Harp, 35, is described as one of Trump's closest aides and is known as the 'human printer' for carrying news articles for him to read. Her intense devotion has reportedly raised concerns among Trump's top advisors and Secret Service agents.
During a May 2023 golf trip in Scotland, Harp was reportedly seen running behind Trump's golf cart because no other carts were available. In a letter to Trump following the trip, she apologized for any embarrassment and admitted to being "distracted all week (forgetting to eat throughout the days, and even forgetting to sleep, and only catching a couple hours at a time)." The letter concluded, "With all my heart, Natalie."
Her commitment was also evident in October 2023 when she rode in the trunk of an SUV to a New York court appearance after being told there was no room in the motorcade. According to CNN, Harp became upset and argued with staffers, insisting Trump had personally asked her to accompany him.
These incidents are cited as examples of how Harp has "irked" those close to the former president. One advisor noted that Trump "likes the attention and the fact that she is 100 percent committed and loyal" and "doesn't question, doesn't second guess."
In the summer of 2023, Harp reportedly slept in the women's locker room at Trump's Bedminster golf club to remain close to him, moving from a maid's room to be nearer the main house and allow for quicker responses to Trump's calls, according to journalist Michael Wolff. Journalist Alex Isenstadt reported that Melania Trump once found Harp late at night inside Trump's private quarters at Mar-a-Lago, an area normally off-limits to those outside the family, while Harp was delivering documents.
The renewed focus on their relationship comes after Trump reportedly prioritized Harp over cabinet secretaries during an Iranian assassination threat following a NATO summit in Turkey. Harp was among a small group of aides, including Dan Scavino, who flew with Trump on a plane from Ankara while Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent remained behind with journalists. Senator Jon Ossoff recently commented on their closeness, suggesting Trump prioritizes personal travel with Harp over his duties.
