During pregame warmups before the Kansas City Chiefs' dominant 31-10 victory over the Denver Broncos, tight end Travis Kelce engaged in a heated exchange with the Broncos' punters, which involved Kelce punting footballs into the stands. The incident occurred because the Broncos' punters reportedly disrupted the Chiefs' offensive preparation.

According to Scott Coughlin, known as 'Stanford Steve,' on the "SVPod" with Scott Van Pelt, the Broncos punters were mismanaging their timing during warmups. This led to punts traveling from Denver's side of the field towards the Chiefs' sideline while Kansas City receivers and quarterbacks were practicing routes near the goal line.

Kelce's frustration escalated when a Broncos football landed near him. Coughlin recounted that Kelce picked up the ball and punted it "almost to the second deck." He repeated the action with another ball, prompting a Broncos ball boy to approach. Kelce, described as "steaming," intercepted the ball and punted it into the stands again.

This episode drew parallels to a 2024 incident involving Kelce and then-Ravens kicker Justin Tucker before an AFC Championship game. In that instance, Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes took issue with Tucker warming up too close to their practice area, leading to Kelce kicking Tucker's footballs aside and throwing his helmet.

Tucker was later accused of inappropriate behavior during massages and was released by the Ravens before the 2025 season. He received a 10-game suspension from the NFL, though no legal action was pursued.

The pregame interaction with the Broncos punters was not the only notable event for Kelce that day. He also had a brief, heated moment with an aggressive fan attempting to take one of his gloves. On the field, Kelce recorded 71 yards on three receptions, becoming the Chiefs' second all-time leading receiver. His wife, Taylor Swift, was in attendance, reportedly sitting with Tom Cruise.
