NFL player George Kittle and his wife, Claire, experienced significant travel disruptions in Nashville as they attempted to reach New York for the wedding of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, scheduled for Friday evening at Madison Square Garden.

Kittle, a tight end for the San Francisco 49ers, confirmed last week that he and his wife had received invitations to the event. Their travel plans were hampered on Wednesday night when their flight from Nashville International Airport (BNA) was rescheduled, causing delays.

Claire Kittle shared her frustration on social media, posting a selfie with her husband and noting, "Just at BNA all evening. Was supposed to depart at 5:30am now it's 8am lol." Flight records indicated that their plane, originally scheduled to depart Wednesday night for New York, was moved to an early Thursday morning takeoff.

Kittle and Kelce maintain a strong friendship off the football field, despite their on-field rivalry as Kelce plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, a competitor to the 49ers in the Super Bowl. Kittle recently appeared on Kelce's podcast, "New Heights," which he co-hosts with his brother Jason.

Swift had previously shown her friendship with Kittle during a recent concert, dedicating her performance of "Love Story" to him. "This was a very special request from a very special tight end," Swift told the audience, acknowledging Kittle's presence. "He wanted to hear this particular song and that tight end … is named George Kittle."

Kittle had joked about Kelce hosting their "Tight End University" event close to the wedding date, suggesting Kelce was "warming up" for the ceremony. He confirmed his attendance at the wedding, mentioning he would be wearing a blue suit.

Details about wedding guest protocols revealed that Swift and Kelce have requested "absolutely no gifts" from attendees. Kittle humorously noted that Travis Kelce has an interest in old coins, suggesting that as a potential gift. The couple is set to host a rehearsal dinner on Thursday night, with the main wedding ceremony on Friday evening. It remains unclear if the Kittles would be able to attend the rehearsal dinner following their delayed arrival.
