Laguna Beach police arrested Safford Wolfson, 36, on Thursday on suspicion of murder in the death of his mother, Angela Caprioli, 61. Officers responded to a home on Dunning Drive Monday around 11 a.m. and found Caprioli deceased at the scene. The killing is being investigated as domestic in nature.
Neighbors described Wolfson as a reclusive individual who primarily stayed indoors. They reported that caregivers appeared to be present at the residence continuously. Caprioli, according to neighbors, had been visiting recently.
Investigators noted Wolfson's online activity. An X account attributed to Wolfson described the user as a "trans girl looking for fun in LA." A TikTok account associated with Wolfson featured videos of him dancing while wearing dresses, miniskirts, crop tops, and underwear. In 2024, a Facebook post on an account bearing Wolfson's name stated, "Not even my mom wants to hang out with me man… talk about lame-o!"
Wolfson's LinkedIn profile indicates he co-founded Kevin's House LLC, a Southern California facility that offers sober living and assisted adult care services for individuals with mental health challenges. Caprioli's Facebook profile listed her as the founder of Kevin's House and featured a photo of her with Wolfson.
Authorities have not yet announced a motive for the killing, and the investigation is ongoing.
