Tottenham Hotspur has stated that they are not pursuing a transfer for Monaco striker Folarin Balogun. The club's clarification comes amid speculation about their interest in the forward, who has been in strong form since leaving Arsenal in 2023.

Balogun was a prominent figure for the United States during the recent World Cup, scoring three goals as the team advanced to the round of 16. He also drew significant international attention following a red card incident in a match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following the game, it was revealed that former U.S. President Donald Trump had contacted FIFA President Gianni Infantino to request a review of the controversial decision. Trump stated he called Infantino to ask for a review, asserting that the contact on the field was not a foul and that Balogun was a vital player for the U.S. team.

The intervention by Trump sparked debate and allegations of political interference in sports, particularly as only one red card had been overturned in World Cup history prior to this incident, dating back to 1962. The Belgian Football Association reportedly appealed to FIFA over the matter after the news emerged, only to have their appeal rejected.

Balogun, 25, scored 19 goals in all competitions for Monaco last season. He made 10 appearances for Arsenal's first team, scoring two goals, before his move to the French club. Tottenham is reportedly looking to strengthen its attacking options, having already made additions to its midfield and defense. Despite this, the club has maintained that Balogun is not a transfer target.

Tottenham has stated they are not pursuing a deal for Folarin Balogun.
