Patriots quarterback Tommy DeVito became engaged to his girlfriend, Michayla Anja, on Wednesday, he confirmed via an Instagram post Thursday night. The proposal took place at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with the couple overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

DeVito, 27, and Anja celebrated their engagement at a steakhouse following the proposal. Anja had previously shared photos attending a Patriots game in October and on vacation with DeVito in March. DeVito first appeared to publicly acknowledge their relationship on April 1.

DeVito gained significant attention in 2023 as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants, stepping into the role due to injuries to Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor. During that period, he led the team to a 3-3 record as a starter, accumulating 1,101 passing yards, eight touchdown passes, and three interceptions. His Italian heritage and a distinctive hand-pinching celebration contributed to his nickname "Tommy Cutlets" and a surge in fan popularity, which was notably embraced by local delis and his family.

After starting only two games in 2024, DeVito was released by the Giants in the summer. He subsequently joined the AFC Champion Patriots but did not play in any games during their Super Bowl run. This offseason, he secured a two-year, $7.4 million contract extension with the Patriots. Reflecting on his time with the Giants, DeVito stated earlier this year that while the experience was special and tied to his New Jersey roots, he views it as part of his past and is focused on his current role with the Patriots.
