Tom Brady recently drew significant online attention after sharing a warm embrace with college volleyball player Harper Murray during a day out with his daughter, Vivian.

The NFL icon was present at the Nebraska Cornhuskers' 2026 season opener against the Texas Longhorns, where he sat courtside with Vivian, who is an avid volleyball player.

Before the match commenced, Murray, a 21-year-old standout for the Cornhuskers, approached Brady and Vivian in the stands. Video and photos of their interaction, which included a handshake followed by a lingering hug, quickly circulated and gained traction on social media.

While the embrace generated speculation online, sources indicate it was a friendly greeting. Brady and Murray have established connections through Michigan athletics, as Brady played college football there, and Murray was a prominent high school athlete in Ann Arbor.

After shaking hands, the two wrapped their arms around each other in a lingering hug

Following Nebraska's victory over the Longhorns in straight sets, Murray commented on the encounter. "I know him through some Michigan connections and the football program and administration there," she stated. "I know his daughter's into the sport, so I'm sure that's how he got into it and grew a love for the game."

Murray also expressed appreciation for the support from prominent athletes. "I think it's awesome that we have people who are legends in their sport wanting to come and support a sport that's growing in the last few years and has been so popular," she said. "I think it's just really fun. I know our team loved that he was here."

Nebraska's official social media accounts shared images of the sideline meeting, accompanying a photo of Brady and Murray with a handshake emoji. Brady responded to the post, writing, "Thank you and good luck this season LFG."

The interaction occurred shortly before Brady's son, Jack, was photographed at the U.S. Open with his mother, Bridget Moynahan. Jack, Brady's eldest son from his relationship with Moynahan, recently graduated from Riverdale Country School. He is known to attend the U.S. Open annually with his mother.
