Tom Arnold responded on social media platform X after his ex-wife, Roseanne Barr, unexpectedly defended him in a recent interview.
Barr spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about past accusations made by TV writer Chuck Lorre, who claimed Barr had forced the writing staff of the original "Roseanne" sitcom to credit Arnold for scripts he did not write. Arnold had previously denied Lorre's claims.
In response to the conflicting accounts, Barr stated, "Unbelievably—I don’t think you’ll hear me say this often—but Tom Arnold is telling the truth for once. Talk about the paradigm switch here."
Arnold reacted to Barr's comments by posting on X, "Hell finally froze over today. Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. 33 years ago I predicted I would do something so cool my 1st X Wife Roseanne would be forced to say something almost nice about me."
The original "Roseanne" aired from 1988 to 1997. Arnold, who played Arnie Thomas on the show, and Barr were married from 1990 to 1994.
Lorre, known for co-creating shows like "The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men," has been vocal about his difficult professional relationship with Barr. He previously described his time working on "Roseanne" as "malice," suggesting Barr's background as a stand-up comedian contributed to tensions on set.
Barr's career faced a significant setback in 2018 when ABC canceled the "Roseanne" revival following a racist remark she made on Twitter about former White House adviser Valerie Jarrett. Arnold commented at the time that Barr was "so locked in with Trump she is unable to have any introspection."
In her recent interview, Barr also confirmed she has completed a self-financed series titled "Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable," which she described as being about a "patriotic grandmother who is the matriarch of a mixed-race prepper family in Texas."
