A 13-month-old girl was killed and her father severely injured when a suspected drunk driver allegedly drove into them at a Sacramento cemetery on Sunday. The family had been visiting the grandmother's gravesite at the time of the incident.

According to KCRA 3, Janessa Milagro Mazur Diaz died in the crash, while her father, Joshua Mazur, 30, sustained serious injuries including broken ribs, a fractured nose, and a fractured skull. He was reportedly in the ICU.

Sacramento County police arrested Miguel Landeros Guzman, 50, on Monday. He has been charged with felony gross vehicular manslaughter while under the influence, DUI causing injury, hit-and-run, and child endangerment. Prosecutors allege Guzman was driving at a dangerous speed and lost control of his vehicle.

Guzman appeared in Sacramento Superior Court on Tuesday and is being held on $450,000 bail. His prior convictions include a drunk driving incident in April 2009, during which he injured another person.

Janessa's mother, Jackline Patino Diaz, recently celebrated her daughter's first birthday. She has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover Mazur's medical expenses and described the family's profound grief and financial hardship.

"Our family is facing an unimaginable amount of emotional pain, uncertainty, and financial hardship," Diaz wrote on the fundraising page. "We are heartbroken beyond words. No parent should ever have to experience the pain of losing their child."
