Tinder has reported a 34% surge in activity from non-local users in the New York City and New Jersey area during the ongoing World Cup, coinciding with the influx of international visitors for matches at MetLife Stadium.

The majority of these new users are international, primarily from the United Kingdom, Norway, and Canada. Domestic visitors using the app in the region largely originate from Miami, Los Angeles, and Boston. The dating platform observed a notable spike of 35% on June 13, the day Brazil played Morocco at MetLife Stadium.

Across all 16 World Cup host cities, Tinder experienced an average increase of over 47% in international users and a 22% rise in domestic visitors at the tournament's outset. Globally, swipe activity in World Cup host cities has seen an average increase of nearly 25%.

Among specific host cities, Monterrey, Mexico, recorded an 80% surge in Tinder activity around the Sweden vs. Tunisia match. Guadalajara, Mexico, saw a 74% increase during the South Korea versus Czechia game. Boston experienced a 47% rise in app usage during the Iraq vs. Norway match.

Social media discussions have highlighted Tinder's popularity among international users, with some suggesting it as a strategy for women in host cities to connect with foreign visitors. Comments indicate that Tinder is widely used for dating and relationships in Europe and other regions outside the U.S.
