Former Illinois mayor Tiffany Henyard has secured a legal victory against her ex-landlord, Genetta Hull, who was ordered to pay Henyard $1,500. The ruling came as Henyard, a Democrat-turned-Republican, is running for a commissioner's seat in Fulton County, Georgia.
A Cook County judge rejected Hull's claim that Henyard owed approximately $10,000 in unpaid rent and other costs for a Dolton, Illinois, property. Instead, the judge ruled that Henyard's boyfriend, Kamal Woods, who is also a former town employee, owed over $7,000 in overdue rent and repair costs. The judge found that Henyard herself had not signed leases for the property between 2012 and 2023.
In addition to dismissing the landlord's claims against Henyard, the judge ordered Hull to pay Henyard $1,500, with $1,000 designated for an identity theft protection service and $500 for legal fees. This order stemmed from Hull allegedly publishing Henyard's Social Security number intentionally. The judge noted that Henyard, as a public figure, had garnered significant attention and that the publication of her private information was a "very serious breach of Henyard's privacy."
