A fire at an Ohio motel claimed the lives of three individuals who were trapped in a room, according to a fire official. Firefighters responded to the blaze at the Econo Lodge in Wooster shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, finding flames erupting through the motel's roof.

A motel employee recounted that a man trapped inside called the front desk to report they were unable to escape. Two of the deceased were employees of the motel. Wooster Township Fire Chief Dallas Terrell stated that firefighters made multiple attempts to reach the trapped residents but were unsuccessful. No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Images of the scene depicted significant damage to a rear, detached section of the motel. The fire consumed a single-story portion of the building. Authorities confirmed that hotel guests in other areas of the motel were evacuated room by room.
