Following its theatrical run, "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" is now available on digital platforms for purchase and rental. The film, directed by Jon Favreau, continues the story of the popular Disney+ series "The Mandalorian," which concluded its third season in 2023. The series focused on a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin, and his charge, the Force-sensitive Grogu.
The movie sees Din Djarin, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, and Grogu ally with the New Republic to rescue Rotta the Hutt. The cast also includes Brendan Wayne, Lateef Crowder, and Sigourney Weaver. After its release, the film, retitled "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu," grossed approximately $342 million worldwide against a production budget of about $165 million. While profitable, this makes it the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film to date.
Beginning July 21 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (9 p.m. Pacific Time on July 20), the movie can be bought digitally on platforms such as Amazon Prime and Apple TV. Prices may vary by retailer, with Amazon Prime listing it for $29.99 to buy and $24.99 to rent. A physical release on DVD, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray is scheduled for August 26, 2026, and will include bonus features like behind-the-scenes content and director's commentary.
"The Mandalorian and Grogu" is not yet available on any subscription streaming services. However, as a Disney production, it is expected to begin streaming on Disney+ before the end of 2026. Historically, new Disney theatrical releases often debut on Disney+ between three to six months after their cinema debut. If "The Mandalorian and Grogu" follows a similar pattern, its streaming premiere could occur around November 2026. Some analyses suggest an earlier release, potentially in October 2026, noting that this film arrived on digital platforms faster than recent releases like "Avatar: Fire and Ash."
Disney+ offers various subscription tiers, including an ad-supported plan for $11.99 per month and an ad-free option for $18.99 per month or $189.99 annually. Bundle options with Hulu and other services are also available, starting at $11.99 per month for Disney+ and Hulu with ads.
