A recent episode of "The Daily Show" drew attention to Fox News host Laura Ingraham's past commentary criticizing individuals for making exaggerated facial expressions, by airing footage that showed her doing just that during a congressional hearing.
The Comedy Central program presented a compilation of Ingraham appearing to make faces and smirking while seated near Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, during a hearing focused on the origins of COVID-19.
This visual segment was paired with audio clips of Ingraham herself criticizing similar behavior in others. "The smirking for the camera... the smirk she had on her face... shaking her... shaking her head... and she just kind of rolled her eyes, mugging for the cameras, and at certain points it almost seems like a competition for the camera," Ingraham could be heard saying in the montage. She further described such actions as "boarish and rude... arrogant and rude... always performing for the cameras."
The "Daily Show" clip concluded with footage of Ingraham appearing to take a selfie during the hearing, accompanied by audio of her remarking, "Taking a selfie like a junior high school girl."
