A San Antonio police officer's comment to a man suspected of domestic violence is under review, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD). The incident was captured on a doorbell camera at the home of Rachel Carlton, who had called officers for assistance.

In footage shared online by Carlton, two officers are seen speaking with her husband on the porch. One officer states, "Look, I'll tell you - women are the downfall of men." Carlton reported that she called the police because her husband was allegedly aggressive and had threatened her. She also stated that she believed he was using drugs again.

Carlton told KSAT that the officer's remark made her feel isolated and scared. She explained that she decided to share the video to raise awareness about domestic abuse and to urge law enforcement agencies to take such incidents more seriously. She also indicated that this was not the first time the officer had responded to their home.

According to Carlton, the same officer had previously threatened to arrest both her and her husband and have their children placed with Child Protective Services if he had to respond to another call at their residence. She reported the incident to the department, and a sergeant informed her that the officer had been identified and the matter was being escalated through the chain of command.

The officers reportedly responded to the home after Carlton reported her husband for alleged domestic violence

SAPD acknowledged the incident and described the officer's comment as "inappropriate." The department stated that the comment is currently being reviewed through the disciplinary process, emphasizing their commitment to public safety and professional service to the community. The identities of the officers involved have not been released, and the department has not yet announced any disciplinary actions.

Carlton, who identified herself as Rachel Ramos in her interview with KSAT, has since left the home and is seeking a protective order against her husband. She also shared a separate video showing her husband smashing an object with a baseball bat outside their home.
