A Tesla owner has shared footage of an incident in which a stranger allegedly keyed her car while it was parked at Petrie Station in north Brisbane on Saturday night. Lindsey Hay, 49, discovered the damage the following day when reviewing recordings from her vehicle's built-in security cameras.
The footage shows a woman approaching Hay's black Tesla, appearing to backtrack, and then making her way to the passenger door. The woman is then seen using her car keys to scratch the paintwork on the front passenger door and bumper.
"I was completely shocked by her actions," Hay, a clinical psychotherapist, told the Daily Mail. "I had not encountered her previously as she was already parked when I pulled in."
The damage includes scratches on the front passenger door and a grazed front bumper, though the paint has not been scratched down to the metal. Hay has filed a police report and is seeking an apology from the woman.
Video of the incident, shared to Facebook, prompted strong reactions from other users who expressed dismay at the woman's behavior. Many commented that the perpetrator should be identified and held accountable for the damage.
