A school resource officer has resigned from her position with the Metro Nashville Police Department following an investigation into an affair with a fellow officer. The officer, Lisa Vidrios, admitted to engaging in inappropriate sexual activity with an 18-year veteran of the tactical operations team, according to a report from the department's Office of Professional Accountability. Her husband, Angel Vidrios, also a police officer, uncovered evidence of the affair, including text messages and videos.

Angel Vidrios reported his suspicions to his wife's superiors in May 2025, leading to an internal investigation. He told investigators he began monitoring his wife's phone after becoming suspicious. The evidence he presented included videos of Lisa Vidrios and the tactical officer having sex in her office at Madison Middle School and inside a police vehicle. Lisa Vidrios later admitted to having sex inside the school approximately four times in the late afternoons while students were still present in the building. The pair also reportedly engaged in oral sex in the male officer's police vehicle.

Text messages cited in the investigation report appear to show the two officers arranging meetings, including one instance where Lisa Vidrios texted, "Unlock your door. I'm putting shorts on." Angel Vidrios cross-referenced these messages with location-tracking data and the department's timekeeping system to establish a timeline, indicating the affair may have been ongoing since at least April 2025 and occurred while both officers were on duty.

Lisa Vidrios agreed to a pre-investigative settlement approved in September 2025, admitting to violations of department policy regarding conduct unbecoming an employee and devoting their full time to duties. She resigned from the force. The tactical officer under investigation filed for an "injured on duty" pension, which was approved in February 2026. This action prevented him from being formally interviewed as part of the internal investigation, and the file on him was closed.

Both officers were decommissioned and stripped of their police access on May 26, 2025, the same day the department became aware of the allegations. The scandal has drawn attention to the pressures faced by first responders in balancing their professional and personal lives.

The Vidrios couple transferred from the San Diego Police Department to the Metro Nashville force in 2022, having previously been recognized in local newspapers for their work. They appeared in promotional videos with their three children, highlighting their family life in Nashville.

The mayor's office issued a statement emphasizing that first responders are held to the highest standards and that any failure to meet those standards is unacceptable. Metro Nashville Public Schools confirmed that no students or staff were aware of the situation while it was occurring. The school resource officer position has remained vacant since the incident.
