Johnthony Walker, a convicted killer known for driving a school bus in a fatal 2016 crash that killed six children, is back in jail in Tennessee. Online court records indicate Walker, 34, faces seven new charges stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident in Nashville.
Authorities booked Walker into the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office jail on charges including aggravated assault by strangulation, aggravated burglary, child abuse, interference with an emergency call, and three counts related to sex-offender violations. These new charges are unrelated to his previous conviction.
Walker was operating a school bus for a Chattanooga school district in 2016 when the incident occurred. Court records state he was driving at high speeds on an unauthorized route when the bus swerved, struck a mailbox and telephone pole, and ultimately flipped, crashing into a tree. Several other students were injured in the crash.
He was convicted of negligent homicide in 2018 and sentenced to four years in prison. Two years later, in 2020, Walker pleaded guilty to rape charges and received a sentence of six years and one month, to be served consecutively to his sentence for the bus crash. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
