Two teenagers have been given suspended jail terms for a knifepoint robbery of a classmate, which they then shared online. Zain Khan and Nahid Ali, both 19, lured the victim to Airedale Park in Skipton, North Yorkshire, on March 6, 2024.
At Bradford Crown Court, Khan was sentenced to two years in jail, suspended for two years, for the robbery. He also received a nine-month sentence, suspended for two years, for possessing a knife. Ali was given a 20-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, for his role in the robbery.
Both defendants, from Keighley, West Yorkshire, must complete unpaid work, with Khan ordered to complete 240 hours and Ali 200 hours. The court heard that the victim was threatened with a knife and assaulted, and was forced to transfer over £800 to Khan's bank account.
Khan and Ali admitted to the charges, with Khan also admitting to possessing a knife. Two other teenagers involved in the attack were dealt with at an earlier hearing and ordered to pay compensation.
The incident occurred after Khan, a fellow student at Craven College, suggested they go to a local Morrisons supermarket to buy food. The victim had been with Khan in the college cafe shortly before the attack.
