An inquest has heard that an 18-year-old teenager, Lucy Ellen Halpin, died of cardiac arrest at a music festival in the United Kingdom. The incident occurred on July 11 at the Tonnau festival, located near Llanfaethlu on Anglesey.
Coroner Kate Robertson stated that she had reason to suspect the cause of death was unnatural. While a post-mortem examination is underway, the confirmed cause of death has not yet been released. Emergency services were alerted to a medical emergency at the Carreglwyd estate, Llanfaethlu, in the early hours of July 11. Halpin, who was from Bangor, Gwynedd, was transported to a hospital where she passed away shortly after 3:00 AM.
Following the incident, organizers of the Tonnau festival announced its cancellation to allow authorities to conduct their inquiries. The coroner opened and adjourned the inquest on Tuesday, extending her condolences to Halpin's family.
In a tribute posted on Facebook, Breeze Hill Bar, Eatery and Hotel, where Halpin was employed, described her as "exceptionally good at looking after our customers" and "treasured by us, our customers and her colleagues." The establishment noted her caring, funny, and always smiling demeanor, stating the pub was "full of broken hearts."
Friends remembered Halpin as someone who "lit up every room she walked into and put a smile on everyone's face without fail." A fundraiser established for her family to assist with funeral and other expenses described her as someone who would be "carried in all our lives with love" and "deeply missed."
