A 19-year-old man was arrested on Sunday after damaging a community memorial for Charlie Kirk at the Turning Point USA headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, authorities and local media reported.

Ryder Corral was charged with criminal damage and disorderly conduct after footage and photographs showed him kicking over flowers, vases, flags and balloons set up as a public tribute. He was detained after bystanders subdued him, according to reports that circulated on social media and in local outlets.

Corral was seen in images and video wearing a long-sleeved black shirt bearing an eagle perched on an American flag and the words “land of the free, home of the brave,” along with dark blue pants. Media reports said the outfit matched clothing shown in surveillance footage released after Kirk was shot and killed last Wednesday.

The killing of Charlie Kirk, founder of the conservative nonprofit Turning Point USA, has drawn national attention. Multiple media outlets have identified 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the suspect in the fatal shooting; surveillance images tied to those reports showed an outfit similar to the one Corral wore, according to local reporting.

Authorities said Corral made it about 15 yards through the memorial before he was stopped by members of the public and taken into police custody. Some reports said he was booked on multiple charges, including criminal damage and disorderly conduct.

Police released surveillance images after the killing that have been circulated widely on social platforms; media accounts connecting the images to the alleged shooter prompted scrutiny after video emerged of the memorial incident. It was not immediately clear whether investigators believe the memorial incident was explicitly intended as a copycat act or part of a broader alleged plot.

Phoenix police did not immediately respond to requests for comment. A spokesperson for Turning Point USA did not immediately provide a statement when contacted through the organization’s public channels.

The memorial incident comes amid an active investigation into Kirk’s death. Law enforcement and local officials have advised the public to rely on official updates as inquiries continue. Media reports indicate additional details could emerge as police review surveillance footage and interview witnesses from both the shooting and the subsequent memorial disturbance.
