Senator Ted Cruz of Texas recently described President Donald Trump as possessing "cast iron balls" in a level of fearlessness he believes is unparalleled in history. Cruz made these remarks during a podcast interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity.
Cruz contrasted Trump's approach with what he characterized as the timidity of some members of his own party. He referred to some Republicans as "weak, lily-livered Republicans" who are "scared" and tend to retreat from conflict. "Nothing scares Trump," Cruz stated, adding that while he sometimes advised Trump to exercise more discipline and focus, his fearlessness and energy were "phenomenal."
Cruz's current public praise for Trump stands in contrast to their contentious history. During the 2016 Republican primary, Trump attacked Cruz, then a rival candidate, with personal insults, including comments about Cruz's wife and insinuations about his father's connection to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Cruz was notably booed at the Republican National Convention when he initially refused to endorse Trump.
However, Cruz's stance evolved rapidly. He eventually endorsed Trump and campaigned for him. Since Trump's victory, Cruz has become a notable ally in the Senate and has consistently expressed admiration for the president.
