Vicki Williams, a teacher at Milford Haven Comprehensive School, described fearing for her life during a classroom attack by a 16-year-old pupil. The incident, which left her with injuries to her head, back, and hands, has resulted in the boy receiving a four-year detention order. Williams recounted the moment the pupil grabbed a knife and pushed her back with his legs, screaming. She recalled the attacker looking at her with "pure hatred."
During the sentencing hearing, it was revealed that Williams is uncertain if she will be able to return to her profession. She is scheduled to begin therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder this week. In a victim personal statement, Williams expressed feelings of "sadness, anger and guilt," stating that her primary focus is on what could have happened to her. She described her disbelief at the events and how her daughter was "almost left without a mum."
Williams conveyed her fear about the future, saying, "I'm scared because I don't know what I'm going to do going forward." She also reflected on the dedication of her fellow teachers, stating, "My fellow teachers and I don't deserve this because we work so hard." She emphasized that leaving teaching should have been her decision. A return visit to the school during the summer holidays allowed her to realize the extent to which she had been "pinned" to the wall behind her desk during the attack.
