TCU safety Jacob Fields has been dismissed from the football team for a violation of team rules, stemming from an alleged aggravated assault of a teammate that occurred in the team's locker room on August 12. The incident was reported to campus police on August 15, according to The Athletic.
Details surrounding the alleged assault remain scarce, with the victim and specific circumstances not yet fully disclosed. The report filed by TCU to campus police described the incident as an "alleged aggravated assault with hands, feet or fists." Fields' agent, Philip Miller, stated that much of the online speculation is false and that Fields and his family will not comment further on the situation. Miller added that Fields misses TCU and his teammates, and understands the decision to move forward.
Fields, a transfer from Louisiana Tech, was expected to be a key player for TCU. He earned Conference USA's Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors last season, leading Louisiana Tech with 92 tackles. Fields also recorded two interceptions returned for touchdowns during the 2025 campaign. He transferred to TCU and was poised to secure a starting position before his dismissal.
A TCU spokesperson confirmed Fields' removal from the roster, stating he would not be part of the football team moving forward. The Horned Frogs are scheduled to open their season on August 29 against North Carolina in Dublin.
