The upcoming wedding of pop superstar Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce is projected to incur a police presence cost exceeding $160,000. Over 120 officers, including more than 70 detectives, are slated to provide security for the event, which includes a rehearsal dinner and the main ceremony at Madison Square Garden.

The law enforcement detail is expected to work in shifts of 8.5 to 9 hours, with officers earning between $70 and $90 per hour. The significant security measures are a response to the high-profile nature of the couple, drawing from multiple New York City precincts.

Sources indicate that the couple's decision to hold the wedding in New York City, specifically at Madison Square Garden, was influenced by security considerations. They had reportedly been planning a June wedding in Rhode Island but changed venues due to concerns about the difficulty of securing the location and perimeters in that state. Safety was cited as the primary issue influencing this pivot.

Reps for Swift and Kelce, as well as the NYPD, did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the reported security arrangements and costs.
