Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are facing a neighborhood dispute over their plans to erect an 8-foot fence around their newly purchased lakeside mansion in Bratenahl, Ohio. The NFL star acquired the property for $5.35 million in March, but his and Swift's ambitions for the property's perimeter have encountered resistance from some local residents who wish to preserve the area's quaint lakeside village atmosphere.

Records indicate that Kelce initially sought approval for an 8-foot fence, a height that would deviate from the village's established code. Following discussions with village officials and neighbors, the couple reportedly agreed to lower the fence's height and conceded that a fence around the entire property was unnecessary. A permit for a fence has been submitted, with other details, including landscaping, still being finalized. Plans include a picket-style fence.

The sprawling 21,000-square-foot property features eight bedrooms, a ballroom, and a home theater. Kelce's real-estate portfolio, now combined with Swift's, includes other significant properties. Swift previously purchased penthouses in New York City for approximately $20 million in 2014, later adding a third unit for $9.75 million. She also owns a mansion in Westerly, Rhode Island, acquired in 2013 for $17 million. Kelce, meanwhile, purchased a $6 million mansion in Leawood, Kansas, shortly after his relationship with Swift became public.

The current situation highlights a recurring theme for the celebrity couple, whose major purchases often draw significant public attention and, occasionally, local scrutiny.
