Taylor Lewan has retracted his earlier public statements of frustration regarding his absence from Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's recent wedding. Lewan, a longtime friend of Kelce and co-host of the "Bussin' With The Boys" podcast, initially expressed surprise and hurt at not receiving an invitation to the ceremony held at Madison Square Garden.
During a recent podcast episode, Lewan voiced his disappointment, noting that other individuals, including family members of fellow NFL players and various celebrities, were in attendance. He questioned why he and his podcast co-host Will Compton, also a close friend of Kelce, were excluded from the guest list of approximately 1,000 attendees. Lewan remarked that seeing names like George Kittle's mother and stepmother on the list made him feel he was "doing something wrong" in his friendship with Kelce.
He even considered directly asking Kelce about the snub via a voicenote but ultimately decided against it. Lewan shared that his family had been contacted by the press about the situation, prompting him to address the matter further.
Hours after his initial remarks, Lewan took to social media and his podcast to clarify his position, stating that he was "ripping around" and joking about the situation. He emphasized that the decision of who to invite to a wedding is solely up to the couple. "If you're getting married, you can invite whoever the f*** you want to your wedding," Lewan stated, adding that "it's not about you." He reiterated that he and Kelce have a strong friendship spanning over a decade and that he has sent Kelce a text message to offer congratulations.
The wedding saw a convergence of notable figures from the NFL, Hollywood, music, and fashion industries. Among the attendees were NFL stars Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and Baker Mayfield. Comedy icon Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony. Other guests included actor Paul Rudd and Abigail Anderson, a childhood friend of Swift's. Musicians Beaabadoobee and Benson Boone, as well as TV personality Bowen Yang and former NFL official Dean Blandino, were also reportedly present.
Lewan acknowledged the unique venue of Madison Square Garden and mentioned reports of a $26 million donation to charity made in conjunction with the event. Despite his initial strong feelings, Lewan concluded by saying that while he might playfully tease Kelce about it in the future, the wedding snub is "not that big of a deal."
