Andrew and Tristan Tate will remain in U.S. custody as they contest extradition to the United Kingdom, where they face a total of 59 charges. The charges include rape, sex trafficking, and offenses related to indecent images of a child, with alleged actions spanning from 2010 to 2017.
U.S. authorities took the brothers into custody in July following the UK's announcement of the new charges. A federal judge denied them bail, stating that their significant wealth and history of frequent international travel constitute "quintessential flight risks." The Tate brothers, who are dual U.S.-U.K. citizens, have denied all charges and allegations against them.
This legal challenge follows previous charges of sex trafficking filed against the brothers in Romania in 2022. They were subject to a travel ban before being permitted to travel to the U.S. in 2025. Their arrival in the U.S. had drawn objections from several prominent U.S. politicians, including Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
