The sisters of Nicholas Brandram, the man suspected of being the "Putney pusher," have asserted that their brother was innocent and that the Metropolitan Police acted with negligence and recklessness. Brandram was found deceased on Tuesday evening, with his family stating he took his own life following intense pressure from the investigation.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, sisters Alexia Hicks and Sophie Voelcker told presenter Justin Webb that their brother's mental health significantly deteriorated after his arrest. They questioned the police's inability to conduct DNA tests that they believe could have proven Brandram's innocence.
The family contends that police showed a lack of urgency in clearing their brother's name. Brandram's death followed months of severe stress attributed to the ongoing investigation into the "Putney pusher" incidents.
