A suspect has been charged in connection with a burglary at the North Carolina estate of former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, occurring weeks after Biffle and his family died in a plane crash. Terrell Williams, 44, faces charges including second-degree burglary, safe cracking, and money laundering, according to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell.

Williams is currently held without bond in Cobb County, Georgia, on suspicion of another home burglary. Investigators identified Williams in July after Cobb County police arrested him and found items believed to have been stolen from the Biffle residence. Some of the stolen property, including NASCAR memorabilia, has been recovered.

Authorities reported the break-in at Biffle's home on Jan. 8. The items stolen included an estimated $30,000 in cash, two Glock handguns, NASCAR memorabilia, and gold and silver coins. Investigators also found a radio-frequency detector, which they believe Williams used to locate security cameras during the burglary. Campbell stated that Williams allegedly used news headlines and social media to determine when individuals were not home to execute his plans.

The burglary occurred approximately three weeks after Greg Biffle, his wife, and their two children were among seven people killed in a Dec. 18 plane crash. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash. The Biffle family's jet departed Statesville Regional Airport and crashed shortly after takeoff, with investigators noting significant fluctuations in the plane's speed and altitude before the incident.

In a separate development, investigators have identified a person of interest in a fraud case linked to the Biffle family's death. Bank, Venmo, and PayPal accounts associated with the Biffles were allegedly accessed online using personal information, with phone numbers and email addresses changed to gain control of funds. Money was reportedly transferred to unrelated accounts and used for purchases. At least one fraudulent check tied to Biffle's business interests was cashed, and other attempts were made to access accounts across multiple states. Biffle, 55, was a decorated NASCAR driver, winning over 50 races across the sport's major circuits and championships in the Truck Series in 2000 and the Xfinity Series in 2002. He was also recognized for humanitarian efforts, including delivering aid via helicopter after Hurricane Helene struck the U.S.
