The View co-host Sunny Hostin reportedly invoked her celebrity status when police cited her 24-year-old son for trespassing, according to a report.
Gabriel Hostin was jogging along train tracks in New Rochelle on June 16, in an area with "no trespassing" signs, which he claimed he did not see. Police stopped him for the safety violation. Hostin, a recent Harvard graduate and aspiring medical student accepted into Columbia's program, allegedly called his mother for assistance.
Sources told the New York Post that when Hostin spoke with the officers, she asked if they were aware of who she was, identifying herself as "Sunny Hostin, I am on The View." She then reportedly arrived at the scene and, in a letter to the district attorney, identified herself as Gabriel's lawyer, requesting that the citation be dismissed. This account was detailed in a column by Maureen Callahan.
Callahan's report noted that Hostin frequently uses the phrase "no one is above the law," particularly in reference to former President Donald Trump. The author questioned the apparent discrepancy between Hostin's public stance on accountability and her alleged actions in her son's case.
There is no indication in the report that Gabriel Hostin was racially profiled. He was not arrested, and the report states there is no accusation of such. Hostin's letter to the district attorney reportedly highlighted her son's academic achievements and lack of criminal history as distinguishing factors, calling him a "client" and a "2025 Harvard University graduate with no criminal history or prior contact with the criminal justice system."
