Storage Wars Star Darrell Sheets Left Suicide Note Citing Cyberbullying and Family Dispute

Darrell Sheets, a star of the A&E reality series "Storage Wars," died by suicide in April, leaving behind a handwritten note that cited cyberbullying and a family dispute as contributing factors, according to authorities. The Lake Havasu City Police Department recovered the note in a bathroom closet near where Sheets, 67, was found dead on April 22.

In the note, Sheets referenced "Facebook bulling" and a family argument, according to an incident report reviewed by TMZ. His girlfriend told investigators that on the night of his death, Sheets complained of insomnia and left their bedroom. She subsequently heard a gunshot.

Sheets had been experiencing insomnia in the months prior to his death, which his girlfriend attributed to stress. She also indicated that Sheets was upset by a verbal argument with his son, Brandon Sheets, and by text messages sent by his daughter-in-law that expressed suspicion about his girlfriend's intentions regarding his finances.

According to the report, Brandon Sheets asked law enforcement to trespass his father's girlfriend from the residence after his death. Authorities informed Brandon that as she had been residing there, she would need to leave voluntarily or face eviction.

Sheets' girlfriend had been living at the home for three months and had known the reality star for over a year.

An autopsy and toxicology report later confirmed that Sheets had no drugs in his system and officially ruled his death a suicide. His body was described as that of a "well-developed, well-nourished adult male."

Sheets appeared in 163 episodes of "Storage Wars" between 2010 and 2023. The show's producers highlighted his business acumen, noting his success in acquiring valuable items at storage auctions. He had previously suffered a heart attack in 2019 and operated a shop named Havasu Show Me Your Junk in Arizona. Sheets had also spoken publicly about his struggles with depression.

In the weeks leading up to his death, Sheets had mentioned dealing with a "cyber bully stalker" attempting identity theft. Police investigators incorporated these cyberbullying allegations into their probe of his passing.

Following his father's death, Brandon Sheets posted tributes on Instagram, expressing his love and grief. He vowed to honor his father's legacy. Other "Storage Wars" cast members, like Brandi Passante, also sent condolences to Brandon and his family.
