Sticky Fingers frontman Dylan Frost and his longtime girlfriend Elyssa Ford are entangled in a legal dispute, with police pursuing Apprehended Violence Orders (AVOs) against both individuals. The proceedings stem from an alleged confrontation between the couple, leading to their scheduled court appearance at Waverley Local Court.
This development introduces a new dimension to the relationship between Frost, 35, and Ford, 25, who have been together for several years and welcomed a child in early 2025. The police officer involved in the case is reportedly the same individual who lodged both protection order applications.
Details of the alleged incident are anticipated to be revealed during the court hearing. While Ford has maintained a low public profile, Frost's career as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the Sydney-based indie band Sticky Fingers has been marked by several controversies.
The couple's relationship has now drawn police intervention, though it remains unclear if they are still romantically involved. This legal challenge is the latest in a series of controversies for the New Zealand-born musician.
This is not the first time Frost and Ford have encountered legal issues. In 2024, Frost faced court after being accused of shoplifting from a Sydney CBD supermarket. Police alleged he stole a roast chicken and a coffee. Ford, who was pregnant at the time, was accused of stealing a packet of candies from the same store. Both pleaded not guilty, and Frost's charge was later withdrawn.
Frost's history of controversy predates the alleged supermarket incident. In 2016, the band announced an indefinite hiatus amid criticism directed at Frost, including allegations of racism, sexism, transphobia, and aggressive behavior. Frost's response at the time was famously quoted as "Boys will be boys," though the band later issued a statement regarding positive change.
Sticky Fingers eventually regrouped, releasing new music and resuming tours, maintaining a loyal fanbase. However, controversies persisted. In 2018, Frost was reportedly removed from a pub after allegedly verbally abusing a transgender woman. He was also accused in 2016 of physically threatening Indigenous singer Thelma Plum. In 2019, Frost was reportedly involved in a physical altercation with Sticky Fingers bassist Paddy Cornwall, who was subsequently sentenced to prison.
These incidents have frequently overshadowed Frost's music. The singer has also spoken publicly about his struggles with alcohol and mental health, having been diagnosed with what he described as "bipolar schizophrenia" in 2015.
The current AVO proceedings involving Ford are significant, given her role as Frost's partner and mother of his child. The unusual nature of police seeking protection orders for both parties has brought their private affairs into the public eye.
