Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver D.K. Metcalf has stated that he believes another civilization exists within the Earth, presenting perceived difficulties in traveling to Antarctica as evidence for his theory. Metcalf revealed his beliefs in a recent interview, indicating that he shares this interest in conspiracy theories with his quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.

Metcalf's assertions align with a version of the Hollow Earth theory. He questioned why travel to Antarctica is not as accessible as to other polar regions like the North Pole. "You can go to Alaska. You could go to the North Pole," Metcalf told The Athletic. "But why not Antarctica? Why can't you just book a trip to Antarctica?"

While The Athletic noted that trips to Antarctica are indeed available between November and March, primarily via ships, and that non-commercial flights are government-controlled, Metcalf further questioned the presence of international meetings in the continent. "Why is there a secret meeting — well, it’s not secret — but why is there a meeting between every world leader of every country in Antarctica, specifically?"

Sources indicate there is no verifiable evidence of such meetings. Metcalf clarified that his interest in conspiracy theories predates his discussions with Rodgers, though they bond over the subject.
