Sophie Cunningham's podcast, "Show Me Something," has ceased new episode production following controversial comments the WNBA star made about transgender athletes and a subsequent public disagreement from her co-host, West Wilson.

The podcast has not released new episodes since July 21. Cunningham, an Indiana Fever player, previously used the show to discuss WNBA matters, defend teammate Caitlin Clark, and comment on league decisions.

Controversy Over Trans Athlete Remarks

Cunningham ignited a debate in July when she stated in an ESPN interview her desire to "protect young girls" in women's sports. She has since reiterated and defended her stance in public comments, asserting her belief in protecting biological women and children while expressing a desire for inclusivity.

"I said what I said, I think it's common sense," Cunningham told reporters. "I think I'll always believe in that, it's really important to protect children. And that's little girls, who are also involved in that category. I stand by what I said and I'll always believe that."

She also added, "I extend love, I don't dislike anyone, I think there's room for absolutely everyone here. I think there's room to love everyone."

Cunningham described her political views as "very much in the middle," agreeing and disagreeing with different aspects of both sides.

Co-Host's Public Disagreement

Following Cunningham's initial remarks, West Wilson, her co-host and a reality TV personality, publicly contradicted her stance in a TikTok video. Wilson characterized transgender women's participation in sports as a "borderline non-existent issue" and suggested it is amplified by right-wing influencers, arguing that such discourse distracts from more significant problems.

Wilson and Cunningham have a history, having grown up together in Missouri. Wilson is known for his appearance on the reality show "Summer House."

Cunningham has not shied away from the intense trans athlete debate since her comments

The podcast, produced by The Volume, has not addressed the controversy or Cunningham's comments directly in its recent production hiatus.
