Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has acknowledged the White House's use of a viral meme featuring her finger-pointing gesture, stating that the administration is simply "another group posting about it."

The meme, which gained widespread popularity after Cunningham made the gesture during a game against the Phoenix Mercury on June 22, 2026, was shared by the White House on social media on June 30. The post included a clip of Cunningham discussing the incident on her podcast and a video of former President Donald Trump pointing during his 2024 campaign.

During an exchange with reporters on Friday, Cunningham commented on the White House's post. "I think everyone around the world is posting it," she said. "Every company has done it. So I don't really think twice about it. I just think they're another group posting about it."

The moment, which occurred during a game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, resulted in a technical foul for Cunningham. She later described the call on her podcast as "the weakest thing I’ve ever seen in my life," explaining that she "didn’t say a word" and was "literally pointing."

The photos and videos of Cunningham's gesture quickly became one of the most viral sports memes of 2026, with numerous companies and individuals adopting it online. The Indiana Fever ultimately defeated the Phoenix Mercury 86-77 in the game where the viral moment originated.
