Sophia Bush has revealed that she and former U.S. soccer player Ashlyn Harris were married in the summer of 2023. The "One Tree Hill" actor shared the news in her recently released memoir, "And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress."

The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony held in upstate New York, with only Harris' children, Sloane, 5, and Ocean, 4, in attendance. Bush and Harris discussed their wedding in an interview published by Vogue alongside an excerpt from the book.

"When you get to this stage in your life, you begin to unpack what’s yours and what’s always sort of been for everyone else," Bush told Vogue. "It’s such a privilege to be able to perform as an athlete or an actor, but it also comes with certain costs."

Harris echoed this sentiment, noting the low-pressure nature of the ceremony for her children. "It was so fun for [my children], because it wasn’t this pressure-filled day that’s too much for young kids," she said. "It was so precious, and zero pressure."

To celebrate their marriage with a wider circle, the couple traveled across the U.S. to share the news with loved ones.

Bush was previously married to businessman Grant Hughes from 2022 to 2023. She also had a widely publicized relationship with "One Tree Hill" co-star Chad Michael Murray from 2005 to 2006.

Harris shares her two children with retired U.S. soccer player Ali Krieger. Harris and Krieger announced their divorce in 2023 after nearly four years of marriage.

In May 2024, Bush publicly identified as queer in an essay for Glamour, in which she also confirmed her relationship with Harris. She cited the ongoing political climate and the more than 500 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills proposed in state legislatures in 2023 as reasons for honoring the act of coming out.

Bush described her admiration for Harris, writing, "The way she prioritizes and centers her kids, not only in her life but in the core of her being, is breathtaking to behold. Falling in love with her has sutured some of my own childhood wounds, and made me so much closer to my own mother."

The release of "And I Will Tell You Mine" is scheduled for October 27. Bush told People that she had been encouraged to write a memoir for about nine years, but the timing for sharing her story felt right only recently, suggesting that "when your life finally feels like all the pieces are in the right place, you start to realize why people might want you to share your story."
