North Lanarkshire Council's SNP group has reinstated Councillor Tracy Carragher to the party following an investigation into her handling of complaints about former council leader Jordan Linden. Carragher had been suspended and removed as a regional list candidate after facing accusations of ignoring or downplaying complaints.
Linden was convicted in May and sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting young men. The investigation into Carragher's conduct was concluded by an independent advocate and barrister. According to a statement from the North Lanarkshire SNP group, this investigation found that Carragher did not cover up any complaints concerning Linden.
The SNP group stated that Carragher's administrative suspension has been lifted with immediate effect. The group expressed concern over the significant public, political, and personal consequences Carragher endured as a result of the allegations, which the independent investigation did not uphold. The group affirmed its full confidence in her return to the party.
