Chris Pullin, the father of late snowboard champion Alex "Chumpy" Pullin, has voiced his reservations about Ellidy Pullin's engagement to her new partner, Brock Wadsworth. Pullin expressed doubts about the couple's future and his belief that Ellidy will continue to use his late son's surname, which he referred to as her "her cash cow."
Ellidy Pullin was in a long-term relationship with Chumpy Pullin until his death at the age of 32 in a spearfishing accident in July 2020. Following his death, Ellidy harvested his sperm posthumously and later changed her surname from Vlug to Pullin, despite never having married him. She has since had a daughter, Minnie, with Chumpy via IVF, and recently announced her engagement to Wadsworth.
Chris Pullin indicated that he would prefer Ellidy to adopt her fiancé's surname but is skeptical she will do so. He suggested her continued use of the Pullin name is tied to her public persona as an influencer and author. "I don't think she'll change her name, because it's her whole persona; it's been her cash cow," he stated in comments to the Daily Mail.
The relationship between Chris Pullin and Ellidy has reportedly fractured in recent years, particularly after the death of Chris's wife, Sally, in April 2025. Chris claimed that Ellidy blocked him and his late wife on social media and did not offer private condolences after Sally's passing, despite posting a public tribute weeks later.
Ellidy announced her engagement on Wednesday, approximately five years after Chumpy's death and less than a year after making her relationship with Wadsworth public. "He wants to be stuck with me forever!" she declared upon announcing the engagement.
Chris Pullin shared his feelings about Ellidy's continued use of the Pullin name, stating, "I hate it, but what do I do. All I can say is, 'What would Chumpy think about that?' It annoys me because it's out of our control." He noted that while Ellidy is not a Pullin by marriage, she retains the name. He also mentioned that Ellidy has no relationship with most of his extended family, with the exception of Chumpy's sister.
Pullin also expressed concerns about Ellidy's extensive use of social media, particularly regarding their daughter, Minnie. He believes Chumpy would have been uncomfortable with their daughter being so visible online. Chris stated he has seen his granddaughter, now four years old, only a few times and has no current relationship with either Ellidy or Minnie, adding, "I don't even know where they live."
Despite the rift, Chris acknowledged that Ellidy might keep the Pullin surname to maintain the same name as her daughter, who he understands bears a strong resemblance to Chumpy. He expressed hope that Minnie might one day seek him out to learn more about her father, but noted the time constraint due to his age.
Ellidy had previously spoken on her podcast, "Darling, Shine!," about falling in love with Wadsworth, admitting to a mix of joy and guilt. She described her new relationship as "f***ing epic" and stated she did not make a rash decision, having considered it for nearly a year.
Chris Pullin concluded by expressing sympathy for Wadsworth, stating, "I feel sorry for him [Brock] because it's going to end badly." He suggested that the marriage might create more distance between Ellidy and discussions about Chumpy, which he found difficult.
Ellidy Pullin's representatives were contacted for comment.
