Silverstone will host the 2027 British Grand Prix on July 4, a date strategically chosen to fall on the middle weekend of Wimbledon, thus avoiding a direct clash with the prestigious tennis tournament's final. This scheduling decision is part of the broader changes to the Formula One calendar for the 2027 season, which is expected to be released soon.
Bahrain is slated to open the 2027 season on March 14, followed by Saudi Arabia the subsequent weekend. The calendar is set to feature 24 races, an increase from previous years, and will include 10 sprint races, up from six in the current season.
Circuit officials at Silverstone have reportedly agreed to the early July date, with chief executive Stuart Pringle indicating that the overlap with Wimbledon is not considered a significant concern. Despite such overlaps in previous years, the British Grand Prix has consistently drawn large crowds, with a record attendance of 564,000 recorded at Silverstone over the 2026 race weekend, surpassing the previous record set in Adelaide in 1995.
Formula One executives intend for Bahrain to be the season's first race, provided global affairs permit, a shift from the current year's arrangement where the Bahrain Grand Prix is held in Malaysia due to ongoing international conflicts. The Monaco Grand Prix is expected to retain its newly established June slot, moved back a week from its traditional May date.
