Sienna Miller, 44, has opened up about the unexpected joy of experiencing pregnancies in her 40s, stating she had long desired another child but had come to terms with the possibility that it might not happen. She welcomed her third child, a son, with fiancé Oli Green in May, and they also have a younger daughter born in early 2024. Miller is also mother to 14-year-old Marlowe from a previous relationship with Tom Sturridge.
In a recent interview with Vogue, Miller described her postpartum period following the birth of her third child as "bliss." She explained that the surprise of conceiving again in her 40s brought a sense of "existential relief." This contrasts with her experience with her first daughter, Marlowe, where she found early motherhood challenging, noting that less focus was placed on postpartum recovery at that time.
Miller, who had an emergency C-section with Marlowe and described feeling "disappointed" and like a "failure" during her initial postpartum period, opted for a different approach with her third child. She successfully planned and prepared for a natural birth after two previous Cesarean sections, enlisting the help of Dr. Gowri Motha and the Gentle Birth Method, which combines self-hypnosis, visualization, and Ayurvedic teachings.
Despite the positive birthing experience and subsequent care, Miller expressed regret over returning to work just five weeks after giving birth. She appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and later recalled, "It was all too much. I thought I could manage it, but it was just complicated and hard."
She announced the arrival of her third child in May with a simple statement: "It's happened. I have a tiny baby next door." Her third pregnancy was revealed in December when she showcased her baby bump at the Fashion Awards.
Reflecting on the demands of motherhood, Miller shared in May that she was surviving on "very little sleep" while juggling work commitments. She recounted a challenging transatlantic flight with her toddler and newborn to promote her action movie "Jack Ryan: Ghost War," admitting that her toddler was currently the more demanding of the two. "The toddler now wins hands down," she said. "It was an absolute disaster. There's no negotiating. I got to the immigration line and just broke down."
