A game-worn jersey donned by Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani in 2025 has sold for $2,055,700 at auction, setting a public auction record for a 21st-century game-used baseball jersey. The sale surpassed the previous record of $1.792 million set by Aaron Judge's MLB debut uniform.

The jersey was worn by Ohtani on March 18, 2025, during the Los Angeles Dodgers' Tokyo Series game against the Chicago Cubs at the Tokyo Dome. The garment features the first-ever Gold MLB Logoman patch and was also signed by Ohtani, who added inscriptions commemorating the game date and his 2025 National League MVP award.

Ohtani experienced a challenging 2026 postseason, batting .192 over eight games while struggling with injuries. He recorded only one home run and three RBIs during the Dodgers' playoff run.

Despite the recent postseason performance, the market for Ohtani's memorabilia remains strong. Scott Keeney, founder and CEO of The Realest, the auction platform where the jersey was sold, commented on the significance of the artifact. "The greatest collectibles are the ones that capture moments that can never be recreated, and this jersey represents exactly that," Keeney stated. "Ohtani is redefining what’s possible in the collectibles market, and the global response to this jersey reinforces just how significant these historic artifacts have become."
