The former school security guard suing Shilo Sanders for nearly $12 million collapsed in court on Thursday and was transported to a hospital. The incident occurred during the bankruptcy trial in Denver proceedings stemming from a 2015 assault allegation.

John Darjean, who is owed $11.89 million by Sanders, reportedly testified for more than two hours before collapsing in pain. An ambulance took the 50-year-old Darjean to a hospital, and he was discharged later the same day, according to USA Today.

The bankruptcy trial is in its fourth day and concerns Sanders' alleged assault of Darjean at a Texas high school on September 17, 2015. Darjean claims Sanders assaulted him when he attempted to confiscate the then-15-year-old's phone at the request of Deion Sanders. Darjean alleges he sustained severe and permanent injuries, including a broken neck and neurological damage.

Darjean sued Sanders in 2016, and a Dallas County judge ruled in his favor six years later, awarding $11.89 million. Shilo Sanders reportedly did not appear for that trial. The ruling stated that Sanders' actions were the proximate cause of Darjean's injuries.

Sanders filed for bankruptcy a year later, seeking to discharge the debt. Darjean's legal team argues that the debt stems from "willful and malicious injury" and therefore should not be discharged.

During the bankruptcy proceedings, Shilo Sanders testified on Tuesday, claiming Darjean assaulted him and caused him to "black out." Sanders stated he has proof of Darjean tearing his skin.

Thursday's court session included testimony from a witness who appeared to contradict Sanders' account, as well as police and medical reports being presented, according to USA Today. Deion Sanders had been subpoenaed to appear in court on Friday, but the judge reportedly released him from his duties on Thursday.

Deion Sanders also coached the University of Colorado football team to a 14-13 victory over Georgia Tech on Thursday, after a last-second field goal attempt was blocked.
