Actor Shia LaBeouf, 40, has informed authorities in New Orleans that he continues to consume alcohol daily, despite being on probation for a February bar brawl. Court documents reviewed by The Daily Mail indicate that LaBeouf has remained in contact with his probation officer and is scheduled to complete anger management courses and substance abuse treatment by September.

However, he has reportedly told officials that he continues to drink alcohol and has declined further mental health treatment. LaBeouf will not be present for a Sept. 23 hearing due to a work commitment on a forthcoming film.

LaBeouf, known for his roles in "Transformers" and "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull," was arrested on Feb. 17 near the French Quarter. Video from the incident showed him shirtless outside a bar, shoving one person to the ground and striking another, whose nose was possibly dislocated, according to a police report. Police stated LaBeouf used homophobic slurs during the encounter and his arrest.

He pleaded guilty to three counts of simple battery. An Orleans Parish judge sentenced him to a six-month suspended sentence and two years of probation, with orders to stay away from the victims and the bar. His attorney described the incident as a "minor Mardi Gras bar tussle" with no evidence of bias.

In an interview earlier this year with journalist Andrew Callaghan, LaBeouf denied having a drinking problem and expressed doubt about the effectiveness of rehab. He suggested that anger and ego, rather than alcohol, were the root causes of his behavior. During that interview, LaBeouf also stated, "big gay people are scary to me" and explained that he felt fear when approached by gay men, acknowledging that such statements could be considered homophobic.

This is not LaBeouf's only legal encounter. In 2017, he was arrested in New York on suspicion of assault. Later that year, while filming in Georgia, he was arrested for public drunkenness and faced charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction, leading to probation. In 2020, he was charged with misdemeanor battery and petty theft in Los Angeles. Additionally, singer FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit in 2020 alleging physical and emotional abuse during their relationship, which was later settled. LaBeouf converted to Catholicism several years ago.
