Police in Covina, California, have arrested seven people and shut down seven massage parlors suspected of engaging in illegal sexual activity. The crackdown occurred after a sting operation initiated by the Covina Police Department.

According to Lt. Ray Marquez of the Covina Police Department, officers conducted an undercover operation involving a decoy. Once an employee at one of the parlors allegedly agreed to perform sexual acts for money, law enforcement moved in to make arrests. The operation targeted businesses in the San Gabriel Valley.

The sting was prompted by a tip received by the police department concerning potential illegal sexual acts occurring at a family member's massage appointment. Marquez stated that these establishments were not widely advertised, with customers reportedly learning about their services through word-of-mouth.

"These cases remain under investigation as our department continues working to address illegal activity and ensure businesses operating within our city are in compliance with the law," police said in a statement. "The Covina Police Department and our city partners remain committed to maintaining a safe community for our residents, businesses, and visitors!"
