Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., publicly criticized the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) on X, formerly Twitter, with a post stating, "Israel keeps killing Hamas members. @DemSocialists, cry harder." The senator, a vocal supporter of Israel, made the remarks as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of several Hamas operatives.
Fetterman has been increasingly vocal about his disagreement with the DSA's platform, describing its members as "deeply anti-Israel" and "deeply anti-America." He has pledged to be "the last man standing within the Democratic caucus in the Senate that's pro-unapologetically standing for Israel."
The IDF's posts highlighted the elimination of specific individuals, including Abdallah Jahja, described as a terrorist in Hamas's military wing who infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 attack. The posts also noted the elimination of Mohammed Al-Hawari and Sabhi Saqallah, both identified as Hamas terrorists involved in attacks targeting IDF troops and Israeli civilians.
Last week, Fetterman indicated during remarks at the Hill Nation Summit that he would consider leaving the Democratic Party if it were to officially adopt an "anti-Israel" stance. He has consistently affirmed his support for Israel as a key ally.
