The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has filed a lawsuit against Louisiana State University (LSU) and its football head coach, Lane Kiffin, seeking to block players who have signed with NFL teams from returning to college football.
The lawsuit, filed against LSU president Wade Rousse, athletic director Verge Ausberry, and Kiffin, centers on the program's reported agreements with former Ole Miss players defensive lineman Zxavian Harris and tight end Dae'Quan Wright. Both players had signed with NFL teams earlier this year.
The SEC is requesting a court order to prevent LSU from violating the conference's rules. According to court documents obtained by On3, the conference seeks "a preliminary and permanent injunction prohibiting Defendants from violating the Conference's First Amendment rights by compelling the Conference to associate with conduct that is contrary to the Conference's purpose and mission."
